STATEMENT FROM THE COLUMBIA COUNTY REPUBLICAN COMMITTEE
Election 2020
As we promised you it would be, last night was a nail biter, here locally as well as on the national level. This election just reinforces what we already know; it is critically important that everyone vote. Your vote matters more than ever here in Columbia County, and we’re proud to say that the votes of thousands of Columbia County Republican voters have helped to position some key races for victory!
While we await the results of the presidential race, somethings are known. Senator Daphne Jordan will return to Albany to fight on our behalf for two more years! This is terrific news for Columbia County and upstate New York. The very energetic Assemblyman Chris Tague will continue to represent the 102nd Assembly District and Jake Ashby looks to continue his service in AD 107 as well.
In Columbia County, Republican candidates for Town Council in Kinderhook and Copake both had strong performances on election night and lead their opponents going into the counting of absentee ballots. In Claverack, the Republican endorsed candidate for Town Justice, Michael Cozzolino, also received great support and has won re-election there.
None of this would be possible without, first and foremost, you, the voters! Your vote matters here in Columbia County now more than ever and we thank you for casting your ballots. We also thank all of you who volunteered on campaigns, made financial contributions or just helped get out the message by emailing and calling friends, and sharing our social media posts. This is all so important.
Lastly, we need your help going forward. Please get involved and volunteer to support and defend our common values. With so many downstate Democrats having moved into Columbia County the past couple of years, we are now a minority party. It is critically important that we all come together and do everything that we can to elect Republican candidates here on the county and town level. Our values and our way of life depend on it.
Let’s harness the 2020 energy and keep it moving forward into 2021 when we have some very important Town Supervisor races on the ballot.
Thank you all again. We sincerely appreciate you and hope that you’ll consider joining the CCGOP team.
